Broilers

We raise a heritage breed of broiler bird called the Freedom Ranger. We prefer them to the typical Cornish X breed used for meat birds because, even though they grow slower, they are better suited for pasture foraging, have fewer health issues and finish with a high quality, deliciously flavoured mostly dark meat.

Our birds are all given free range access to our pastures from the time that they are old enough to be safe in outdoor temperatures. They are kept safe from predators by our LGD Sorcha and the use of large run electric fencing that we move on a weekly basis so that they always have access to the fresh, high quality forage. Their diet is supplemented with a locally sourced whole grain feed which we ferment. Fermented feed is higher in protein and contains beneficial bacteria that decreases pathogens and increases the overall gut health in our flock, plus they can’t get enough of it! These roasters will look a little different than what you might expect from a store but we guarantee that their juicy flavour will have you coming back for more.
